The Royal Liverpool hosted the finale of the race to be crowned the PGA’s number one professional.
The Hoylake links staged the 2008 Srixon PGA Play-Offs last week.
The Open venue, which returned to the rota in 2006 after a 39-year absence and has played host to golf’s greatest players, further enhances the growing status of the end-of-season PGA Play-Offs, which offers the leading finishers a gateway to European and Challenge Tour events.
Now in its third year, the race to be acclaimed Great Britain and Ireland’s best player showed an exciting contest with the field restricted to just 21 players pitting their wits against each other over 36 holes of one of the toughest links courses in the country.
In addition to the prize money and the title of the country’s best professional, the extra incentive for competitors is entry to four of Europe’s biggest events - the BMW PGA Championship, Celtic Manor Wales Open, Barclays Scottish Open and European Open.
Scotland's Chris Doak claimed the honour as the PGA's No1 player for 2008 after a comprehensive victory in this years Srixon PGA Play-Offs.
The 30-year-old, winner of the Scottish Order of Merit, secured a six-shot winning margin as he led home a Tartan Tour one-two at Royal Liverpool with Buchanan Castle's Jason McCreadie claiming second spot.
The duo can now prepare to take on the might of the European Tour having secured starts in the BMW PGA Championship plus the Scottish, English, Welsh and European Opens next year.
Doak staked his claim for glory with an opening day 66, in gale force conditions, and eased his way to a second round 67 to finish at 11-under-par - comfortably ahead of the 21-man field, which comprised the three best players from each of the PGA's seven regions.
