Miguel scored his second win of the year with victory in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this weekend following on from his victory in the earlier UBS Hong Kong Open. Victory at Wentworth was by far the biggest of his career.
The Spaniard, 44, carded a final-round 68, with a hole-in-one at the 5th helping him to an 11 under par total. “It feels great,” said Jimenez as he lit his cigar. "This is my 20th season on Tour and it's a nice present," said Jiménez. He went on to say, "I have been playing at Wentworth for many years and I have been in contention a lot in recent years. I know how to play this golf course."
The £600,000.00 first prize takes his total winnings so far for 2008 to €1,342,676. Jiménez now heads up the European Tour Order of Merit and will almost certainly have secured himself a place in the European Ryder Cup Team later this year.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Tim Clark birdied two of the last three holes to card a final round score of 66 and finishing on 13 under par, 1 behind the winner Phil Mickelson. Mickelson hit his second shot at the last to 9 feet and holed the put for a birdie to take the title by 1 shot.
Srixon has now bagged 11 Wins in 2008 including Mark Brown with the Johnnie Walker Classic, Peter Lawrie with the Spanish Open and Hennie Otto at the Italian Open.
With over 250 staff players around the world, this outstanding run of performance now positions Srixon with 5 players on the World top 40.
