Carl Mason sets earning records on his way to receiving the John Jacobs Trophy and his third Order of merit.

On Saturday Srixon’s Carl Mason was presented with the John Jacobs Trophy for winning the Order of merit for 2007, his third Order of merit in the European Seniors Tour.
Saturdays’ award rounds of an astonishing season that saw Mason win five times on the way to the Order of merit. Mason also posted record-earnings of €412,376 from 17 events, finishing in the top ten on no less than 13 occasions. In European Seniors Tour history no other player has collected more in career winnings, €1,642,960 to date.
He said “It’s hard to put into words. It really has been an incredible, special year and I’ve enjoyed it so much. I am so proud of myself and the way I’ve played. There’s tremendous satisfaction. I am just so very thankful. This year, life has been great.”

2007 achievements:
· Mason became the first player in history to win over €400,000 in a single season on The European Seniors Tour, beating his own 2004 record of €354,775.
· In the process of becoming the first man to retain the title at the European Senior Masters at Woburn Golf Club, Mason also surpassed Tommy Horton’s all-time career money record.
· In 81 European Seniors Tour events Mason amassed €1,642,960. Only €41,081 short of bettering his 25 year European Tour career.
