Srixon's Henrik Stenson became the second European to win the WGC Match Play Championship, beating defending champion Geoff Ogilvy.
Mon February 26th 2007
Stenson, 30, led by two holes at the halfway point in the 36-hole match but was two down after 26 holes.
Stenson took the lead with seven left and beat defending champion Geoff Ogilvy 2&1 to become the second European winner after Darren Clarke in 2000.
Stenson's second straight win, and first on the US PGA Tour, takes him to the top of the European Order of Merit standings and up from eighth to fifth in the world rankings.
He held off Ernie Els and Tiger Woods to clinch his fifth European Tour title at this month's Dubai Desert Classic.
Renowned as a very long hitter, Stenson has been lavish in his praise for the high performance of the Z-UR Series of golf balls
“ I have been working hard to improve my game around the green and from around 70 yards in, he said. The feel, control and consistency of the Z-UR Series has helped me greatly to achieve this!"
Stenson also plays Srixon 506 irons.
